Hi World

This is week 5 for the Design Thinking and next week will be the due time for the first assessment. Carolyn said we can submit just one report or one poster, whatever we prefer. Most students said they prefer the poster.

Today’s lecture presented more details about POV and HMW that Carolyn mentioned in the online class last week. POV stands for point of view (to understand the problem) and HMW stands for how might we (which is a solution).

After that, we had a workshop on how to make POV and HMW. First of all, Carolyn needed us to this about a scenario and a character with a problem. She gave paper us to write down the POV which was the user, their needs and insight. Then think about HMW to solve their problem.

The way to think about POV is: (user) need to (needs) because (insight). I first thought about the screen time problem and I realised later that it could be any problem in the world. That’s why I wrote it down and stuck it on the wall pretty late. I wrote about a girl who wants to improve her drawing skill but cannot motivate herself to get rid of the screen. I wrote the reason that she saw a digital artist drawing on the computer beautifully from YouTube, so she insisted to draw on the computer only because she believed that it is the best way to draw a picture. Then I wrote some of the HMW solutions to my case and put the paper on the wall.

When everyone finished, Carolyn gave a sticky note to us and told us to write the HMW solution to the study cases on the wall. I got two advice from my classmates. I like a study process with a sticky note like this!

When the class finished, I went to work and went back home at 10 pm. as usual. I was pretty tired but I worked through the poster outline and collected information from the online survey a little before went to bed.
