Hi World

This was week4 and the next week was an Easter holiday. Good news, the week after the Easter holiday is a submission day for my first assessment *crying*.

Unfortunately, we had an online class because of the COVID curfew, so I forgot to save the screen shot of his lecture. This week Vince had a lecture about sketching and making lo-fi prototyping. He emphasised experience mapping and how prototyping as a research method informs.

After the class, I had a consultation with Vince to ensure that I was in the right pace on the first assessment criteria. I sent him my first sketch and got some feedback that I have to do more research about the users.

My first sketch for the screen magnifier

This was the first sketch that I sent to him. It wasn’t enough so I made more sketch later then started making prototyping. I studied the folding pattern from recommended reading materials in L@G and tried to fold papers same as the e-book. The result was not successful because I used a thick paper and made the pattern too small to fold.

First Lo-fi prototyping (folding paper)

During the Easter holiday, I’d done some more sketches and started making a lo-fi model to test in the class. I found some problems that I have to study for controlling the suitable degree of the screen and joints. I wrote those problems to the report too and emphasised the users behaviors who usually use the smartphone.

Cardboard prototyping

I was not too confident to say I’m happy with my report for the first assessment. I’m not good at Academic writing but I tried my best to reach the assessment criteria *crossing fingers and praying*.
